The anthropologist claim that unlike other animals human have the important technological edge of being an animal with an opposing finger, which allows it to grasp things, fashion tools and do intellectual or creative activities like drawing and painting.
This unique distinction gradually made the cave man distant itself more and more from its nearest relatives, the Homo sapiens. In today’s context as well, technology gives a definite edge to certain people over others. Technological asset of the people determines its position on the ladder of civilization.
DEBTEC considers the term “technology” as an option that changes people’s lives and modes of livings. To cope with ever changing challenges people are compelled to invent technology, as well as conservation as a strategy and means for survival and long term development.
DEBTEC-Development of Biotechnology & Environmental Conservation Centre, a registered non-governmental organization consists of a group of dedicated scientists. committed to a mission of harnessing Science and Technology for poverty alleviation and environmentally sustainable social and economic development in Bangladesh.
DEBTEC was founded in August 1998. Now it is widely recognized for its biotechnology. tissue culture, orchid propagation, natural conservation, climate change and development of medicinal & aromatic plants in Bangladesh. Its approach towards propagation, development. utilization and marketing of medicinal & aromatic plants, orchids, ornamentals and agricultural crops made it a pioneer in this field.
DEBTEC has been functioning under the guidance of a seven member executive committee. The advisory committee consists of high profiled dedicated scientist, and social workers. Its research council consists of reputed, dedicated and committed scientists imbued with professional passion and patriotism.
